Things that made me smile this year, or

You are valuable. A link to a song. A message sent in the twilight hours when the world is half asleep. How are you? Thinking about you. Do you miss me too? A heartshaped stone. A phone call. A voice memo. I just wanted to hear your voice. A meme that made you laugh. Flowers. The stories of your day. The thing that’s hard for you to say. Wearing your stretched out old t-shirt. A fire. Questions. How did it go? Why do you like it? What else did you get? A silly birthday gift that made me smile. Let’s grow old together, fuck men. Who needs one? Actually listening to the song, reading the book, I recommended. The reverence of not-supposed-to intertwining fingers. Laughing till we cry. A dinosaur balloon bobbing out the window of the car. No, I’ll get this one. A video of something you knew I’d like. Your problems. Saying things in another language, so we can both pretend we didn’t hear it later. The narrative of your interests I don’t understand. I miss you, whispered, half drunk, understood to be forgotten sober. A handwritten letter. A birthday card. A bar of cheap, supermarket chocolate. My favourite songs on your playlist (at least, the ones that you don’t hate). Staying up late to argue me down. Being the first one to say Happy Christmas. Knowing my favourite poem / song / book / colour / food. The Air BnB with chickens in the garden. I’m sorry, man. I fucked up. Just a look.
